There can be few Irish anglers not familiar with the name of Peter O’Reilly either through his books, tuition, angling reports and media features. For 27 years, Peter worked for the Central Fisheries Board of Ireland, assessing the angling potential of all our rivers and loughs. This knowledge was compiled into his books which proved invaluable to both local and visiting anglers.
Peter was to be found demonstrating casting and fly dressing at all of the Shows and Fairs in Ireland and there was always a queue of anglers waiting for a chat with him, to buy one of his books or purchase some of his beautifully tied flies.
A fully qualified FF Master Instructor and TCHI, Peter operated a popular fly-casting/fly-fishing school from his home in Navan.
He was the man who formed APGAI Ireland in 2002 as an all-Ireland group of Instructors in order to maintain the highest possible standard of tuition here, something which we strive to continue to the present day. We owe him a huge debt of gratitude.
