Pat Mulholland

Members’ Roll of Honour

Advanced Single Handed, Double Handed and Fly Dresser

Pat was one of the very first casting instructors on the island of Ireland. He and some others travelled regularly to England to receive tuition from the legendary Jack Martin and shortly after, he became fully qualified. When Peter O’Reilly suggested the formation of APGAI Ireland, Pat’s name was first on the list. He served on  Committee for many years and later was delighted to become our President.

Originally from the Glens of Antrim, Pat moved to Belfast to carry on his trade as a baker. He loved his salmon fishing and travelled far and wide in their pursuit although Lough Owel came a close second and he had a boat on the Lough for many years, staying in his caravan nearby.

Many of our Instructors think his double handed casting was as near perfection as one could achieve and our fly dressers marvelled at his techniques and depth of knowledge in that discipline.
