Fishery Manager
Mount Juliet Estate
Co Kilkenny

Growing up fishing was all I thought of, I grew up in the countryside in a place called Gowran in county Kilkenny. My two local fly-fishing rivers were the R.Barrow and the Gowran river. I began fishing with a bubble and fly, my favorite fly being the bloody butcher. I Started out very simply and to this day i like to adopt the simplest approach possible in my teaching and fishing. My passion for fly fishing only ever got stronger as time moved on, taking me to places that I dreamt of when I was young fishing the Gowran river with a make shift fly rod which consisted of orange builders’ twine as “Fly line” then some kind of monofilament as tippet and finally the bloody butcher which later was replaced with a Black Gnat. I always enjoyed recasting which ended up mounting up to an obsession with fly casting. I studied the APGAII syllabus for single handed casting and my obsession earned me qualified status with APGAII.

I now take out hundreds of people every year fishing in my role as fishery manager at Mount Juliet Estate. Along my journey i gained Ambassador rolls with Cadence and Yeti, I am a Fulling Mill pro guide and, on the Patagonia pro team.
