Originally from England, Lawrence lived and worked in Northern Ireland for over forty years. He was a superb innovative fly dresser and loved to attend the many Shows and Fairs at which APGAI Ireland were represented.
First and foremost, Lawrence was a great trout angler and in particular loved the big loughs of Ireland. He was a familiar face on Lough Sheelin as well as the other Midland Loughs. He set up a workshop at his home where he offered tuition and also had a wide range of materials for sale, many of which he dyed himself. Lawrence’s memory lives on in a wide range of tutorial videos on YouTube and APGAI Ireland fly dressers still recommend his techniques to our students, particularly on roiled mallard wings and dabbler hackles.
